Vanessa was appointed SMA Europe Coordinator in May 2014. For 7 years, she also worked as Research Coordinator for The SMA Trust, a UK SMA research-funding organisation.
Vanessa was brought up in France and Belgium where she attended the European School of Brussels. After coming to the UK to read Experimental Psychology and later Immunology, she became a research scientist, working in the field of immunology, initially at The Royal Postgraduate Medical School (Hammersmith Hospital) and later at Imperial College.
Sharon was appointed in April 2019 and we let her introduce herself!
Hello I’m Sharon, I live in Cornwall, England.
I have a 22 year old daughter who is currently in Germany, then on her last year at university!
I have worked in a Steiner school for children with emotional problems. Lived in Germany for 9 years working in a kindergarten as a teacher support.
I have worked for a youth agency helping young people find their way in life and striving to reach their goals.
I have a neurological disability and have an amazing assistance dog , but I am still a positive person and an empath.
I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to work for SMA Europe and am really looking forward to being part of the journey and to meeting you all .
