SMA Europe is extremely grateful for all your donations aimed at supporting those who have been affected by the war in Ukraine. Members of our community, towards whom we feel an overwhelming responsibility, are, as you can imagine, deeply affected by the war in Ukraine. SMA Europe is committed to help them and to do so, we are supporting initiatives that seek to fill gaps in patient needs.
We have been able to coordinate our efforts, launch several questionnaires exploring patients’ needs and address many of them.
For instance, Olga got the pulse oximeter, vocal valve, and battery for cough assist. Maria received the pulse oximeter. Several people who are abroad benefited from information support and help with document legislation reimbursement, which is necessary to receive treatment and legalization in the country. Moreover, Ukrainian patient representatives and doctors have been able to come to the International Congress on SMA in Barcelona.
However, the war continues. People with SMA need nutrition, equipment, consumables, and other kinds of support. We would like to keep working in this direction but are unable to do so without your help!
