Dr. Serge Braun, PharmD, PhD. Advisor to the Presidency, former Chief Scientific Officer, AFM-Telethon, Evry, France (2005-2025). Director Neuromuscular Diseases Strategy at Genethon, Evry. Member of the French National Academy of Pharmacy. He dedicated his entire carrier to rare diseases, including neuromuscular diseases, and has gained an extensive 30 year-experience in gene therapies.
Summary
The webinar will explore the evolving field of gene therapy and its application in the treatment of SMA and beyond. It will provide insights into the historical milestones of gene therapy, how it works biologically, current applications, and the potential future of disease-modifying strategies.
The introduction of disease-modifying treatments (DMTs), which target the genetic causes of SMA, has transformed the clinical landscape. In this webinar, we will examine the biological and clinical differences among currently available DMTs and discuss next-generation gene therapies currently in development.
